Hello, Bible Way Family! I’m back with my second blog of the year! What’s on my mind this week? Hard work!
Our house has a letter board my daughter and I use to broadcast messages of encouragement (or general information) to the family each week. This week’s public service announcement? ‘Closed mouths don’t get fed.’ In full transparency, I specifically (and passive-aggressively) picked this colloquialism as a message to my teenage son. However, this phrase also has a depth of meaning applicable to Christians.
It is written in 2 Thessalonians 3:10-11 (NASB): “For even when we were with you, we used to give you this order: if anyone is not willing to work, then he is not to eat, either. For we hear that some among you are leading an undisciplined life, doing no work at all, but acting like busybodies.”
Undisciplined? Busybodies? Wow! How much time is wasted idle or meddling in the affairs of others instead of working? God has blessed us with the ability to contribute; our hard work and efforts display our gratefulness. So, let’s go to work! In our homes, in our communities, and in our church. ‘Closed mouths don’t get fed!’
